Recognition.
Being able to take complete claim over something you’ve worked hard to produce is one of the main driving factors that lead people to be innovative and create things. The fact that as soon as what you’ve created is set in a fixed medium- it is automatically protected is a comforting thought. This could, potentially, be construed as a bad thing because often people might have long harbored the idea, just neglected to put that thought into action. I however, place the blame, not on those who took initiative and made their idea a reality, nor upon those who protect the inventor’s creation, but instead upon those who squander away potential talent and recognition, and then complain when someone else had the gall to actually do something productive. These people are simply bitter because someone else did what they themselves wish they had had the motivation to do. The practice of immediate copyrighting an idea the moment it becomes set in a fixed media is genius, for it allows those who deserve the credit to receive it.

Great blog, Alaska. I think the idea of "instant copyright" is great as well, and allows for people to be creative without worrying.
